Founder – Saint Angela Merici

Charism – Our charism is one of Hospitality and Respect for the individual with a special emphasis on service to women and children.

Motto – Soli Deo Gloria

Ministry – Since our founding in 1535, the Ursuline Sisters have educated hundreds of thousands of young men and women from preschool through gradate studies.  The Ursulines are especially known for their willingness to adapt their educational mission to meet the changing needs of society.  Our ministries of service include parishes, healthcare, collaborative ministries in social service, spiritual guidance, faith formation, retreat work, and the ministry of prayer and presence.  We continue to explore creative ways to incorporate our mission of contemplation, justice and compassion as hallmarks touching all we serve.

Location – Diocese of Cleveland (mainly), California and Maryland
The first congregation of vowed women religious invited by Bishop Amadeus Rappe to come to the Diocese of Cleveland in 1850.

Unique aspects of the Community – In light of our fourth vow, Service in Christian Education for the Church, we journey in partnership with our lay colleagues through the Thomas Merton Association, Marie of the Incarnation Group, our Mission and Heritage Commission, the Angela Satellite Groups, and our Volunteer Program.
